What do we call a generation that decided there are over 150 genders?
This is a generation that thinks they are better educated and scientifically minded, but spirituality, morality, and the inclination to take God at his word are transcendent. It is a case of giving to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.
Conversely, it is also a case of getting from God the things that are God’s and getting from Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.
This generation can hardly describe what happened to the last generation, they know little of their own history, and they are victims of their own crumbling transient culture, rather than followers of something classically new or even remotely attractive.
We know that foxes are always ready to raid the hen house and hens never act like foxes – but we don’t seem to know why
Everyone acts according to their own nature, and that is the easiest way to introduce the most fundamental truth about human nature as described in the bible.
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1Cor 2:14)
Spiritual people, conversely, never act or think like natural (unspiritual) people. They have the word of God working in them and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to give them unction and guidance.
Because natural men and women won’t even consider the sovereign authority of God they always fall into the trap of ignorance. They may be highly intelligent and have a great deal of savvy in many areas, yet spiritual things fly over their heads like a B-52 on a mission.
The three major facts unbelievers never discern
First, most unbelievers think that the Christians are a bunch of people who strongly believe in the Bible. They often think the believers are just deluded folk, caught up in the poetry, allegory and spurious history of a very ancient book of pious platitudes.
Real Christians think that book is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible revealed will and counsel of the Living God. They don’t just believe it, but they live by it – and they are willing to die by it as well.
We invite unbelievers to our source, but we cannot force or drag them to it – They have the same power of choice we did on the day we decided that Christ meant what he said about everlasting life.
Christ declared very simply that when you’re dead – you are just not dead.
Having walked out of his own tomb is why we tend to take him seriously.
Secondly, between one quarter to one third of the Bible is prophecy. It gives fair warning to all mankind. It cannot be altered, but it can, and unfortunately will be largely ignored.
Prophecy even warns that prophecy will not be believed as the days darken and the return of Christ approaches.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2Pet 3:3-4)
Even worse is the prophetic promise that as the last days approach God will lift his hand from us and he will allow us to wander in any direction we may desire.
Wander we will!
Thirdly, unbelievers are loathe to admit that their inspiration comes from the Devil or Satan directly. They may think they are the captains of their own destiny, but God declares that they are all under the direct or indirect influence of the god of this world.
They have indirect influence if they follow the crowd, the acceptable doctrine, behaviors, and trends. They are guided directly if they do, or are involved in great evils and perversions.
Devils and demons are for people not for parlor tricks. The promise of scripture is that billions of devils are set free to roam the earth in the last days. They all find homes, or as the Bible says “hosts” – that is people.
Satan clearly admits that he controls people, communities, cities, kingdoms, and nations – but people who don’t believe God are also reticent to believe Satan.
Let’s see.
“And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.” (Luke 4:5-6)
Finally, Satan also made an offer.
“If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” (Luke 4:7)
In our beleaguered nation it is abundantly apparent that many have taken him up on his offer.
Here is the alternative.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Ro 10:9-10)
