It is all too easy to criticize and the reticence to do so is reflected in the New American Prophet website. In almost 20 years of publishing, nearly 5000 articles and reports with over 25 of the best authors in the nation, no one has been attacked or belittled indiscriminately, or maliciously.
Yes, we have addressed many critical failures of the government and the church – but that is part of the prophetic mission and purpose of the site.
Never has any article of report been given to support a ‘dead letter’ as the Apostle Paul described in his letter to the Romans.
“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” (Ro 7:6)
To the world, the Bible is thought to be one long series of ‘Thou shalt nots.” We know, that is simply not true.
We have been approached often with offers to ask for donations or accept advertising but have always declined in keeping with the statements found in our about page.
“We have no sponsors, advertisers, or affiliates expressly so the messages found here will not be biased by anything other than the greater glory of God and the good of our country. We offer no products for profit.”
Today, anyone who knows bible prophecy is aware that the predicted apostasy (falling away) spoken of by Paul is fully underway. If it were only a bump in the road for the church of God, we would say nothing, but it is the church in decline, and it comes at a very high cost.
What is that cost?
Simply put, the cost is the judgment of those who mislead, and the loss of eternal life for those who are misled.
It is a cost, far too high to pay.
When famous musicians, actors, influencers, bloggers, TikTok and media celebrities use their fame and notoriety to convince others to decline the solid teachings of the bible – there will be a heavy price to pay.
Examples abound.
We hear of people like Lauren Daigle, Dolly Parton, Andy Stanley, and others softening their stand on LGBTQ, and the tendency is to see those who are successful as authorities. We don’t remember that some of the most evil and destructive people in the world were quite successful.
But celebrities are even more destructive to our lives because they are admired and, in some cases, worshipped. They hold even more sway over our lives and are able to bend our convictions completely out of shape, all while we are applauding them.
It does well to note that the influencers in our social structures also have influencers in their own lives. The fans, the crowds the sycophants that dutifully follow them – also deeply influence the influencers.
It would be impossible for those in the height of their success to have not been exposed to people who are gay or trans. In some cases they may have to work with LGBTQ people on a daily basis. They will undoubtedly look just like any other person that they must deal with in their careers.
Beyond the general influence celebrities encounter, is the obvious matter we call, the other side of the coin. If they won’t play the game with the pop trend their career may quickly come to an end.
If the most popular pop culture figure in the world were to take just two simple scripture passages seriously, their careers would end overnight. To wit:
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” (Lev 18:22)
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” (2 Cor 6:17)
The new ‘cancel culture’ has put an intense pressure on celebrities. In times past they could remain silent about the LGBTQ, as it was far from being a mainstream issue. Then came what looked like impassioned pleas for understanding and compassion. At the present time it has evolved to full scale endorsement, in spite of biblical warnings.
But alas, some have taken it one step further.
A recent article on Christian Headlines featured a piece entitled, “Amy Grant Opens up about Her ‘Love-Hate Relationship’ with Certain Bible Texts.” Grant, who recently recovered from a serious bicycle accident always defends her attendance at her niece’s gay wedding.
Billboard quoted Grant, “I never chase any of those rabbits down the rabbit hole,” the Christian pop singer said to People of outcry from homophobic critics on social media. “I love my family, I love those brides. They’re wonderful, our family is better, and you should be able to be who you are with your family, and be loved by them.”
Are Christians who stand by scripture and do not “hate it” to be considered “homophobic critics?”
It is a perversion in the offing. Now, the people standing with the bible are the loveless sinners (homophobic) and the sinners are just people full of love and acceptance.
It is said that Amy’s bicycle accident has caused some recurring level of amnesia. Could it be that she has forgotten that we don’t judge or criticize the Word of God.
The Word of God is our critic.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb 4:12)
Once again, it is those who follow Grant’s inclination to dismiss the parts of the bible she does not want to accommodate, that are the greatest concern.
Once again it is a two-verse reckoning that seals up the cry against such foolishness. Going with the pop-culture flow, is an irresponsible tryst into the thinking that can destroy the eternal destiny of many people with impunity.
Fame is a tricky devil. The lovey dovey soft sell is a masterpiece of deception.
Let’s see.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Tim 3:16)
“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (Jn 12:48)
