This question should be on the minds of every American who loves this country. “Will America recover? Will we survive the current tsunami of evil?”
We may survive. But if we do, it will be only by the grace of God moved by the mass repentance and heart-rending cry of God’s people all across this land. This is crucial to our survival. Hear me clearly friends – there is no political solution to the murderous death-grip wicked people have on America if God is not in it. God must be front and center in our efforts to avert the impending disaster.
Today is a good day to set in motion the necessary steps to regain control of America. This begins with the Word of God. I call your attention to two passages of Scripture. I see them as bookends that encompass the possibilities for us as God-loving, fearing, reverencing, men and women. Friends, we have chores to do and the lifting is going to be heavy.
The first passage of Scripture is found in Daniel 5:1-4.
1Belshazzar the king held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he was drinking wine in the presence of the thousand. 2 When Belshazzar tasted the wine, he gave orders to bring the gold and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them. 3 Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken out of the temple, the house of God which was in Jerusalem; and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. 4 They drank the wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone.
What was God’s response to the desecration of the Temple’s vessels? That’s Daniel 5:5 – “Suddenly the fingers of a man’s hand emerged and began writing opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, and the king saw the back of the hand that did the writing.” It is interesting that none of the king’s counselors could interpret the writing (verses 6-8).
So, starting at verse 13 Daniel is brought to the festivities. The king tries to give Daniel riches and Daniel refuses – verse 17.
We see an important statement in verse 18 one that Daniel will use to announce God’s judgment upon Babylon. “O king, the Most High God granted sovereignty, grandeur, glory, and majesty to Nebuchadnezzar your father.” In order to understand what Daniel was referring to, you need to know the history of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and his interactions with God.
Our brief survey begins with the second chapter of the book of Daniel. Daniel 2 contains the narrative of the history of the world through the dream of the statue made of gold, silver, brass, iron, and iron mixed with clay. When Daniel was able to give the dream’s interpretation Nebuchadnezzar was overjoyed. Here is what we read in Daniel 2:46-47:
46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. 47 The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries since you have been able to reveal this mystery.”
In Daniel 3 we read the narrative of Nebuchadnezzar’s demand that all his subjects bow down and worship the golden image. This is also the chapter that tells us about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego being thrown into the fiery furnace. When they were not consumed but were saved instead Nebuchadnezzar was astounded. Here is what we read in Daniel 3:24-29.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, “Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?” They replied to the king, “Certainly, O king.” 25 He said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!” 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the furnace of blazing fire; he responded and said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, come out, you servants of the Most High God, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego came out of the midst of the fire. 27 The satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s high officials gathered around and saw in regard to these men that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head singed, nor were their trousers damaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them.
28 Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.”
Then in Daniel 4:1-3, we read of Nebuchadnezzar’s recognition of the one true God.
1Nebuchadnezzar the king to all the peoples, nations, and men of every language that live in all the earth: “May your peace abound! 2 It has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done for me.
3 “How great are His signs
And how mighty are His wonders!
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom
And His dominion is from generation to generation.
In the rest of the chapter, we find the narrative concerning Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a wild animal which Daniel interpreted. The point of this dream was Nebuchadnezzar’s pride would bring judgment upon him. That is of course, exactly what happened. Daniel 4:29-33 gives us the specifics.
29 Twelve months later he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon. 30 The king reflected and said, ‘Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?’ 31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you, 32 and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place will be with the beasts of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.’ 33 Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled, and he has driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
But, at the end of that period of judgment, Nebuchadnezzar regained his sanity and his proper acknowledgment of God. Daniel 4:34-35, 37 tells us this.
34 “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35 “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
But He does according to His will in the host of heaven
And among the inhabitants of earth; And no one can ward off His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’
37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”
So, that is the background for Daniel’s comment to Belshazzar in Daniel 5. Now, let’s read Daniel 5:19-22.
19 Because of the grandeur which He bestowed on him, all the peoples, nations, and men of every language feared and trembled before him; whomever he wished he killed and whomever he wished he spared alive; and whomever he wished he elevated and whomever he wished he humbled. 20 But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit became so proud that he behaved arrogantly, he was deposed from his royal throne and his glory was taken away from him. 21 He has also driven away from mankind, and his heart was made like that of beasts, and his dwelling place was with the wild donkeys. He was given grass to eat like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until he recognized that the Highest God is ruler over the realm of mankind and that He sets over it whomever He wishes. 22 Yet you, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this.
Read again the bolded statement above. “Even though you knew all this” is an indictment.
America – we have known the great history of this country. It was once proudly taught in our schools. There is time to reverse the course we are on IF we act now.
We know the founding principles of our great country. We must acknowledge and declare once again our commitment to these principles of America. What are those principles? A summary would certainly include:
- Acknowledgment that God is the Supreme Judge. We are commanded in Scripture to acknowledge Him in all our ways.
- We must enforce the fact that our rights are God-given.
- Therefore, those rights are unalienable. The government at any level or time cannot take them away without violating this principle.
- The primary function of government is to protect our God-given rights. The brilliance of the Founding Fathers preserved this truth for us with these words:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.
- The Constitution was created by “We the People” to constrain the government.
- Therefore, governments at every level are servants of the people, not our masters.
So, that is the first thing we should know and return to the public consciousness of Americans.
Then, a second thing we must know is that government can only be sustained by Godly, moral people who elect Godly-moral servants to represent them. Benjamin Franklin famously quipped when asked what kind of government the convention had agreed to said this: “A republic if you can keep it.” Without God’s law in our hearts and minds, we will fail to preserve this nation.
Third, we must know that moral laziness leads to civic indifference and that leads to the rise of evil, opportunistic, narcissists masquerading as public servants.
Fourth, we must know that when wicked people have control over the mechanisms of government they will dismantle and remove every vestige of Godly moral standards. They will remove all teaching of our Christian heritage and history from our collective memory.
Fifth, we must know that there is no compromise with evil. Appeasement is the first step in apostasy. A little leaven leavens the whole loaf.
Sixth and finally, we must know that spending all of our time, energy, and resources treating the symptoms of our troubles without addressing the origins or causes of the symptoms is ineffective and is an immoral waste of the responsibility, authority, and power that is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We must wrest control of our governing bodies away from these wicked people. We must reassert our authority over them. How will we do that?
That leads me to the other bookend and the implications that follow from that. Daniel 11:32 tells us this: By smooth words, he will turn to godlessness those who act wickedly toward the covenant, but the people who know their God will display strength and take action.
What actions must we take today and every day until America recovers? Here are four things.
First, denounce the state as god. The feds, state, and even local governments are drunk on the wine of the harlot, beast system. Unchecked evil will always set itself up as god. It’s time to check them and check them hard and persistently.
They fancy themselves our master. They are not. The apostate church has been outed as the idol worshiper they are. Churches, pastors, or ministry leaders that push you to get the jab, wear a mask, or otherwise give up your freedoms do not deserve your support. Flee those places.
Second, you MUST take responsibility for your children and their education. The state-run education system is an indoctrination arm of Satan. We are seeing the fulfillment of Matthew 10:21 being deliberately created. That passage says: “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.”
Do not mishear me. I love teachers. We have many brothers and sisters serving the Lord faithfully in the government-run education system. But they are being overwhelmed and overrun.
Third, remove yourself from any local body of believers that have fallen into apostasy. If you cannot find a local church to attend then start one in your home. Don’t be afraid to step out in faith. You may say, “Well, I’m not qualified.” God will qualify you in the calling. Trust Him in that.
Here is a quote from an article I read recently that reorients our thinking.
The church is not primarily a hospital; it is an army. Although armies do have medical units, they are for the purpose of getting the soldiers healed so they can go back to the battlefield and destroy the enemy. The focus is not the medical unit. The focus is on winning the war. We are in a spiritual war! We do not have time to sit around and play church like children play war games. We need to rise up in faith, be the church, and destroy the works of darkness in Jesus’ name!
What will it take for the body of Christ to gain this understanding of who we are? It will take a new breed of man and woman. Here is an AW Tozer quote that sums up my thoughts exactly.
If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation, it must be by other means than any now being used. If the Church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher.
Forth, Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God there will be not one but many), he will stand in flat contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization holds dear.
He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-spoken, and a little bit angry with the world.
He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the One and the salvation of the other. But he will fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath.
