Almost all prophetic ministries and websites oft quote this famous verse from the prophet Joel. The prophet was speaking of events that would take place right before the Lord will return to earth and bring the nations into judgment.
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28)
Even in the midst of the worst moral decline in world history and the apostasy of the church, God will create revivals of the faithful everywhere throughout the world. It is in keeping with another verse that promises, God is not hindered in doing his best for mankind, even as mankind does its worst against God.
“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” (Ro 5:20)
For the second time since 1970, one such revival has begun on the campus of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. In fact, the first revival coincidently happened just after the KC Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 1970, and again in 2023.
At the writing of this article, the revival is in its tenth day. Now, there are people standing in a line that extends out a half-mile from the school’s auditorium. They all want to enter and become a part of the great work of the Holy Spirit that is taking place.
The student body president, Alison Perfater, appeared on Fox’s Tucker Carlson show. While bubbling over with joy she explained how a student began to speak of his faults and confessing to God and then the revival burst out from there and has not stopped or abated. The students asked Fox News not to come to the campus to film the revival. They did not want the intrusion of cameras and news-people to adversely affect the spontaneity of the growing revival.
With no special electronic equipment, no video players and no professional Christian bands or singers, the Spirit of God has moved on students to sing, read scripture, give testimonies, confess sins and worship extrovertedly and conspicuously without shame or concern about how they may appear to others.
The revival is spreading to universities in Texas, Alabama, and other states almost on a daily basis. Samford University in Reid Chapel in Birmingham started a similar spontaneous response to the Holy Spirit at a recent chapel service. Like the Asbury revival, none of it has been programmed, scripted, or rehearsed.
With over a million subscribers on his video channel Dr. Steve Turley reported on the revival. He carefully points to the fact that while some people believe we are living in a post Christian era, we are also entering into a post secular era. The proof abounds in the failures of the modern leftist, socialist, woke and LGBTQ movements who now collectively swing toward everything prurient, perverse, and behaviors with little wholesome or true purpose for life.
When a light shines in the darkness, many people follow it to escape the ever-deepening darkness of the age. Unlike the scheduled and programed revivals of the churches, these student know that God wants more than a commitment, He wants a full-blown surrender.
One of the most fascinating aspects of this revival starting to spread across America’s college and high school campuses, is that they were seen, years ago, and revealed by the ministries of Flash Point’s, Dutch Sheets, over twenty years ago.
In the same week of the 9/11 disaster, Sheets was scheduled to speak at a conference. It was canceled for a few days after the Twin Towers fell, but when he did finally speak, he had a vision. His vision took place not before, or after his message, but it appeared to him while he was speaking. It was a stunning vision.
In the Sheets vision he was given a verse of scripture to hang his message on. It is a wonderful promise and a revelation of the faithfulness of God in calling out his own just as he promised in the messages of the prophet Joel.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19)
This writer hopes you will pause and ponder this declaration and make a radical move toward the humility that will bring you to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
